City of Cape Town (municipality) proud of clean swimming pools

The condition of the Sea Point pool is a constant issue for many of its regular and faithful visitors. A recent post on the official website of the City of Cape Town, clearly states the official opinion.

Well, I am glad the city fathers realise that our swimming pools are important facilities, and ones that need to be maintained. Public pools like the one in Sea Point, are places of human interaction, where Cape Town shows its true character.

But strangely, the post makes no reference to the recent closure of the pool due to technical problems.  Only three out of twelve pumps are in working order, sources have claimed.

Sea Point Pool closed indefinitely?

I’m in Germany at the moment, freezing in Berlin.  But reports from Cape Town indicate that the magnificent public pool in Sea Point is closed “indefinitely”.  That pool is indeed one of the very good reasons to be in Cape Town!  It has been the setting of hundreds of fashion and commercial shoots, the subject of the recent documentary film Sea Point Days and the source of inspiration for many artists and poets.

Passionate swimmers and fans of the Sea Point Pool are suggesting a petition to put pressure on the council.
